Candle Care
Sculptural Candles:
We hope you love your new candle, but now we need to know how to look after it! Whilst our sculptural candles are primarily meant for decorative use, you may decide at some point that you would like to burn your candle. Please follow the steps below for a safe, clean and optimal burn!
- When not using/burning your candle, keep out of direct sunlight and away from heat sources and drafts.
- Remove any tags, ribbons or decoration from your candle before lighting.
- Trim your wick to 1/4 inch for optimal burn time.
- Wax leakage is to be expected so please burn your candle on a stable, heat proof dish wide enough and deep enough to catch the spillage.
- Do not burn your decorative candle for more than 2 hours.
- Blow out your candle once there is about 1cm left to avoid any heat damage to the dish you are burning it on.
- NEVER leave your candle unattended and always keep out of reach from children and pets.
Please remember how important it is to follow our candle safety instructions as failure to do so can result in fire, heat damage and altered burn time.
Container candles:
You love your new container candle but want to maximise the burn time and get the most out it? follow the steps below for an optimal burning experience:
- Please note burn times may vary depending on the environment of your candle - keeping your candle away from drafts will keep your flame stable, less likely to dance around and will optimise your burn time.
- Trim your wood-wick to 3mm for a better burn time, the shorter the wick the better the flame will be.
- When lighting your candle for the first time, ensure that you get a full melt pool (this means that the wax has reached the edges of the container) to get an even burn and to prevent tunnelling.
- Burn your candle on a stable, fire proof surface and away from anything that can catch fire.
- NEVER leave your candle unattended and always keep out of reach from children and pets.
- Do not burn your candle for more than 3 hours at a time and remember that the container will get hot, so be careful and don't move it around.
- Once your candle has around 1/4 inch left, do not burn anymore, instead use hot water to clean out the container and repurpose around the house!
Please remember how important it is to follow our candle safety instructions as failure to do so can result in fire, heat damage and altered burn time.
Stoneware care
Jesmonite Homeware pieces:
All of our stoneware pieces are expertly hand-crafted, sanded and sealed in our little local studio using jesmonite - an eco-friendly, sustainable and water based resin. All of our stoneware pieces come with rubber feet to protect surfaces against scratches. To get the most out of your new stoneware piece, please follow the steps below:
- Please note that as each piece is hand-crafted that air bubbles may be present and colour may vary slightly from piece to piece as each one is unique to another.
- All Stoneware pieces are sealed with a splash proof sealer, HOWEVER please do not submerge your piece in water and do not put in the dishwasher.
- Whilst jesmonite is a strong material, if your piece is dropped then it has the potential to shatter.
- If any liquid was to spill onto your stoneware piece, please wipe it up promptly using a soft, non abrasive cloth.
- Our stone-ware pieces are designed for decorative use, as candle trays and holders or trinket dishes to store jewellery etc, Please do not serve food on your new stoneware piece.
Wax melt care
You've bought your new Maé Fleur wax melts and are ready to release the delicious fine fragrance into your home? Then follow the steps below to get optimal use out of your delicious melts:
- Our melts are for use in tea-light and electric burners.
- Place your wax melts into the top of your burner and light an unscented tea light candle underneath (using an unscented tea light candle will prevent scents mixing and creating unwanted smells.)
- Once the wax melt starts to warm up it will melt spreading the delicious fragrance throughout the room. You can always add more melts as needed.
- Place your burner on a stable, fire proof surface, keep away from drafts and out of direct sunlight.
- NEVER leave your wax melt burner out of sight and always keep out of reach from children and pets.
- Don't burn your melts for longer than 3 hours at a time.
- To remove your wax from the burner, allow the wax to cool down and harden. Relight your tea-light candle until the wax has slightly loosened and you should be able to slip it out of the dish with ease.
Please remember how important it is to follow our wax-melt safety instructions as failure to do so can result in fire, heat damage and altered burn time.
